Henderson Heritage Parade & Festival Celebrates Anniversary of City’s Incorporation

It has been nearly 65 years since Henderson was incorporated, and in honor of this milestone, the city is hosting a hometown celebration for its residents. The annual Henderson Heritage Parade & Festival will be from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on April 15 at the Henderson Events Plaza, 200 S. Water St. Admission to the event is free.
The anniversary will feature a parade down Water Street. The city is currently seeking entries for the homegrown procession, which is at 10 a.m. on April 15. The theme is “Henderson Blooms.” Registration is $50 per entry; non-profit registration is $25 per entry. Applications are available online and due, with payment, by March 27.
Parade judges will score participants based on incorporation of theme, creativity and overall appeal. Cash prizes will be awarded to floats for first ($1,000), second ($750) and third place ($500), courtesy of several generous sponsors. Ribbons will be awarded to the best three entries in the remaining categories.
In addition to the parade, the event will also include breakfast with Mayor Hafen and members of the Henderson City Council. The breakfast will take place at 9 a.m. on April 15 on the front lawn of the Henderson Convention Center, 200 S. Water St. The festival starts at 11 a.m. on April 15 and features live entertainment, food and activities for all ages at the Henderson Events Plaza.
