Henderson Takes Leadership Role in Upcoming Nevada Economic Development Conference
Henderson, Nev. – Mayor Debra March will be speaking at the upcoming third-annual Nevada Economic Development Conference with the city’s economic development director appointed as the conference chairwoman.
The conference, which will be held Sept. 11-13 at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, will be a gathering of economic development professionals, business owners, educators and entrepreneurs there to learn from each other and collaborate on ways to better leverage opportunities for statewide economic development.
“This conference brings together some of the top minds in industry and government in order to share best practices for diversifying our state economy,” said Barbra Coffee, Director of Economic Development & Tourism for the City of Henderson and this year’s conference chairwoman. “We look forward to great ideas and information on new trends and issues that will help us create better strategies for accomplishing our economic development goals in each of our respective communities.”
Mayor March will moderate and speak at a session on transportation. She has been a champion of improving Henderson’s transportation model for all of Southern Nevada. She is vice chair of the Regional Transportation Commission (RTC) of Southern Nevada and a proponent of creating transportation options that are safe and effective whether you are driving a car, walking, riding a bike or traveling on one of the RTC’s buses.
Ms. Coffee will moderate a session for attendees on entrepreneurship. Ken Chapa, the city’s economic development officer, will host a session dedicated to unmanned aerial systems, more commonly known as drones. The city has encouraged the drone industry to look at Henderson as a friendly place to relocate and start up drone-related businesses.
The conference will be held in the UNLV Student Union and will offer a forum for a broad section of professionals to explore and share ideas, programs, services and products that will help shape and strengthen Nevada’s changing economy.
