Henderson, Nev. – The City of Henderson will honor those who have served our nation in the armed forces at its annual Veterans Day Ceremony starting at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 4 at the Henderson Events Plaza Amphitheater. Mayor Pro Tempore Dan Stewart and members of the City Council will be joined by the Basic High School Marine Corps JROTC, local veterans groups and community members.
“On Veterans Day we honor all those Americans who have shown their bravery and commitment to our nation through their military service,” said Councilman Stewart. “We are grateful to all the members of the armed forces who sacrificed and put themselves in harm’s way to protect and defend the freedoms we enjoy and this ceremony is our way to say thank you to America’s veterans.”
Brig. Gen. DeAnna M. Burt from Nellis Air Force Base will deliver the keynote address and the Henderson Symphony Orchestra will perform a special musical tribute to the armed forces. The Basic High School Marine Corps JROTC will conduct the presentation of colors and read the names of the four local veterans who will be added to the Memorial Wall.
Dedicated in 1994, the Veterans Memorial Wall bears the names of more than 1,800 veterans and soldiers that have served our country. The Wall honors generations of service men and women on panels dedicated to deceased veterans, Vietnam War veterans and soldiers who were killed in action.
