Mother’s Day Weekend Gets Colorful with Art Festival of Henderson

Henderson, Nev. – Mother’s Day weekend gets a pop of color when the City of Henderson hosts Art Festival of Henderson from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on May 13 and May 14 at the Henderson Events Plaza, 200 S. Water St. Admission is free.

Many have made Art Festival of Henderson their Mother’s Day tradition. Thousands are expected to travel to Henderson to enjoy a weekend dedicated to the visual, performing, interactive and fine arts. Dozens of booths along Water Street will be selling artwork, with styles from mixed media to ceramics available for purchase.

The event also includes two stages of entertainment and a children’s Imagination Station, complete with art projects for the little Picassos and a chalk art competition. In fact, the city is seeking artists of all ages to participate in the chalk art contest.

Artists will have the opportunity to paint the plaza using chalk pastels. Individuals may select between three different square sizes. Each artist will be able to compete in one of three categories – youth (12 years and younger), teen (13 to 17 years old) and adult (18 years and older) – for a chance to win cash prizes, which are courtesy of several community partners. Chalk art applications, with a sketch of the person’s artwork that will be featured at the event, are due May 8
