Paseo Verde Library to Celebrate 15th Birthday with Community Party
Henderson, NV – Join the celebration as the Paseo Verde Library commemorates its 15th birthday on Thursday, August 24. With a day full of activities for all ages, this Henderson Libraries birthday party is an event for the entire community to enjoy.
When the Paseo Verde Library opened in 2002, the $6.6 million 42,000-square-foot facility at the southeast corner of Interstate 215 and Green Valley Parkway was the most technologically advanced public library in the state. With Internet hookups available throughout the building, there were also specialized sections for preschool-age children, young teens, and it served as the home of Nevada’s only public library genealogy collection.
Today, the library still boasts many unique features, including the peaceful Reading Room and The Coffee Press, an independent coffee shop located near the entrance. The genealogy collection has expanded and the Clark County Nevada Genealogical Society provides volunteers who assist patrons with research in the Heritage Room.
“When Paseo Verde came on the scene, it really opened up library services to an entirely new area of Henderson,” comments Executive Director Marcie Smedley. “This building was planned to serve as a community center in addition to being a wonderful clearinghouse of informational resources and it has been so fulfilling to see how the community has embraced it.”
