Henderson residents take to the streets for two fun fitness events this weekend. The city hosts the Color Me Kind 5K in conjunction with Henderson Stroll ‘n Roll this Saturday along Paseo Verde Parkway, which will be closed to motorized traffic for both events.
The third annual Color Me Kind 5K kicks off the festivities at 8 a.m. The non-competitive fun run, which celebrates acts of kindness, is open to all abilities and fitness levels. Whether they run, walk or jog, participants have the opportunity to spread kindness when they are splashed with color at four different color stations along Paseo Verde Parkway.
Registration for the Color Me Kind 5K is $35 per person prior to Nov. 17. Day-of registration, which takes place at the Henderson Pavilion, 200 S. Green Valley Pkwy., is $40 per person (cash only). Use activity code 154180-58 when registering online or in person at one of the city’s recreation centers.
Henderson Stroll ‘n Roll, now in its fifth year, is from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Modeled after the world-famous Ciclovia in Bogotá, Colombia, the car-free street festival allows families, friends and neighbors to use alternative transportation, such as bikes, skates or scooters, to move, explore and play in the streets. Admission is free.
The event features three entertainment zones. As people travel along Paseo Verde Parkway, they can stop at Paseo Verde Park, 1851 Paseo Verde Pkwy.; Discovery Park, 2011 Paseo Verde Pkwy.; and the Henderson Multigenerational Center, 250 S. Green Valley Pkwy., to enjoy a variety of activities. Each location features a number of fitness and lifestyle classes, interactive demonstrations, children’s activities, bicycle attractions, entertainment and food.
