$3.3 Million in Federal Grant Funding Now Available for Charter Schools
About $3.3 million in federal competitive grants is now available to increase the quality of public charter school education in Nevada.
The Nevada Department of Education (NDE) was selected as a recipient of the federal Charter School Program for State Education Agencies Grant. The grant funding will support newer public charter schools by providing financial assistance for the planning, program design, and to stimulate growth of high-quality public charter schools in Nevada.
“The goals of NDE for this grant are to increase the number of high-quality public charter schools in Nevada,” said Steve Canavero, Ph.D., Superintendent of Public Instruction. “This funding will help improve student achievement in Nevada’s public charter schools, particularly for students who have been historically underserved. Funding will also promote the dissemination of high-quality public charter school best practices; and to strengthen the overall quality of charter authorizing.”
