Legacy Traditional Schools Celebrates Halfway Completion of Henderson Campus

Henderson community leaders came together to commemorate reaching the halfway point of a $19.8 million charter school construction project that is bringing 80 new jobs to the community.

Legacy Traditional Schools, Nevada’s newest public, tuition-free charter school, is halfway completed with its second campus in Nevada – Legacy Traditional School – Cadence. The campus, which is located in the Cadence masterplanned community, will open in the fall for the 2018-2019 academic year.

“We’re proud of the progress being made on our Cadence campus,” said Jennifer Hackett, principal. “Henderson is known nationally as a premier place to raise a family, and we’re excited to contribute to the quality of life in this community by creating the opportunity for students to receive a superior education.”

The project, which is being led by Burke Construction, represents a $19.8 million investment in education in Henderson. When it is completed, the school will serve 1,320 students in grades K-8. The campus will consist of 59 classrooms, offices, a gym, athletic fields, library, piano lab, indoor artificial turf, two outdoor playgrounds, a commercial kitchen and a cafeteria. In total, the school will span 95,000 sq. ft.

Legacy Traditional Schools is known for its proven, accelerated academic model and back-to-basics curriculum that challenges students academically and encourages them to be active members of their communities. Founded on the principle of school choice, Legacy Traditional Schools are tuition-free, public charter schools.

The Cadence campus is Legacy’s second school in Nevada. The first was Legacy Traditional School – North Valley, which opened in North Las Vegas in 2017 with enrollment of nearly 1,300 students.
