Henderson Sizzles and Sings with All-New Blues & Bacon Festival

Everything is better with bacon. This runs true in the City of Henderson. Next month the city will introduce a new festival dedicated to the breakfast treat and blues music. Blues with a Side of Bacon is scheduled for 3 p.m. on April 22 at the Henderson Pavilion, 200 S. Green Valley Pkwy. Advance admission to the festival is $25 per person, or blues and bacon lovers can pay $30 the day of the event.
The one-day music and food festival features some of the best blues musicians in the world, including Victor Wainwright & the WildRoots. The Blues Music Awards’ 2016 B.B. King Entertainer of the Year and Band of the Year is a blues and boogie-woogie band that has received numerous accolades for its “great songwriting, exceptional arrangements, flawless playing and soulful vocals,” according to Bill Wilson of Billtown Blue Notes. The band’s 2015 Boom Town has earned high critical praise, debuting at No. 5 on Billboard’s blues charts.
Blues with a Side of Bacon music lineup also includes Rolling Stone Magazine “10 New Artists You Need to Know 2016” musician Miles Mosley. The upright bass player, vocalist and breakout star released his solo album UPRISING in January 2017, featuring his acclaimed collective, the West Coast Get Down. Mosley has recorded, toured and collaborated with artists including Andra Day, Jonathan Davis, Kendrick Lamar, Chris Cornell and Rihanna. He is also an award-winning composer of film and television scores, ad campaigns, trailers and video games.
Jarekus Singleton will also perform at the event. Coming from the same Mississippi soil as B.B. King and Muddy Waters, Singleton’s cutting-edge sound, which melds rap, rock and blues music, is all his own. The electrifying bluesman “is an exciting new young blues guitarist with melody, hooks, swagger and a strong, original voice,” according to the Washington Post. Refuse to Lose, Singleton’s debut album on Alligator Records, unleashed a new wave of blues for a new generation of fans.
A number of local restaurants and food trucks will cook up a variety of sizzling bacon specialties. All food and drinks will need to be purchased directly from the vendors; no free samples will be given to event attendees.
