Teacher Leader in Residence Opportunity
The Nevada Department of Education is looking for classroom teachers who are interested in becoming the first Teacher Leader in Residence (TLIR). The TLIR will facilitate a team of practicing teachers who will provide advice and feedback to NDE, create resources in support of NDE initiatives such as standards and assessments implementation, and engage in two-way communication with other educators to give teachers across the State a voice in the Department.
“We encourage equity-focused teachers who are committed to ensuring that all Nevada students are served by effective educators, eager to gain new knowledge and perspectives in the profession to enhance their own classroom practice, and interested in helping to shape education policy to apply,” said Dena Durish, Deputy Superintendent for Educator Effectiveness and Family Engagement. “Not only will the TLIR enhance communication between the NDE and teachers statewide by serving as a Department liaison, but this position will provide exciting opportunities for the selected individual to gain valuable insights from key education leaders and policy makers.”
Qualified applicants will have a minimum of three years of recent teaching experience and a valid Nevada driver’s license, and will take a paid leave of absence from their district for the duration of the assignment.
To apply for the 18-month TLIR position that will conclude at the end of the 2018-2019 school year, teachers must have a least three successful years of recent teaching experience in Nevada public schools, and submit an online application, resume, most recent Nevada Educator Performance Framework evaluation and two letters of recommendation.
